The Universitas Terbuka Manado website was developed to serve as a comprehensive information portal for prospective and current students. The main goal was to deliver an intuitive user experience that reflects the values of open and distance learning, while also simplifying access to key services such as registration, exams, and academic support.

Design Goals
- Present critical academic and registration information in an intuitive, easy-to-access structure.

Layout Structure
- The homepage is structured into clearly segmented blocks
- Supporting pages like Selayang Pandang (About) feature mission and vision breakdowns, leadership bios, and historical background, all structured in a scroll-friendly and readable format.
- Footer includes essential business information, contact location, and navigation links.
This project required more than just an aesthetic upgrade—it called for a rethinking of how information was delivered to users with varied technical familiarity. Key services like registration, exam scheduling, and learning modules were restructured into easily digestible components with visual cues and strong call-to-action elements. I used modular design practices to ensure that each content section could be reused or edited by non-technical staff through the WordPress backend.Given the audience’s wide demographic—from new graduates to working adults—the interface was kept uncluttered with simplified menus, bold icons, and consistent layout rhythms. Functional clarity was a top priority, especially for mobile visitors who might rely on their phones for accessing academic deadlines and announcements.
Visual Design
Color Scheme
A bold combination of yellow and navy blue aligns with the UT Manado brand. Yellow adds energy and visibility, while navy ensures professionalism and contrast.
Typography
Clean, legible sans-serif fonts are used throughout for both headers and body text to ensure readability across devices.
Imagery
Custom banners, student photos, and iconography were carefully selected and optimized to reflect the local academic culture and to foster community identity.

The responsive layout ensures consistency across devices, and backend flexibility allows the admin team to manage updates easily without needing technical intervention.The visual hierarchy, bold calls-to-action, and accessible structure all work together to elevate the university’s digital presence while ensuring it meets the practical needs of its users.

Results & Conclusion
The website successfully transformed how Universitas Terbuka Manado communicates with its students and stakeholders. It streamlined the academic journey from information search to registration, strengthened the university’s credibility, and modernized its web presence.
The redesign helped improve engagement metrics, reduced inquiries by making information more accessible, and allowed for more autonomous content management by the university’s team—laying the groundwork for future scalability and digital transformation.
